The Tetbury Music Festival - 2005

Even before the ink was dry on the glowing comments we received about the second Tetbury Music Festival last October, Graham Kean and Steven Isserlis were discussing the programme and performers for the 2005 Festival.

This has now been finalised, and we are very pleased to be able to tell you what you can look forward to during the weekend of 6-9 October.

You will see that this year there is to be a Thursday concert as well, and one that we are particularly proud to have as part of the Festival. You will recall that last year Mark Padmore was unable to come. He wants very much to do the two cantatas planned for last year, and when he was discussing the Sunday concert with Graham, Mark said that he would like to do something else in the Festival - the Schubert song cycle, Winterreise.

We are thrilled to be able to include this in the Festival.

Steven Isserlis is not playing this year - he will be abroad on tour. He will return in 2006, and his plans for that Festival are already taking shape

The third of our increasingly successful festivals is now over.

However, for those who were unable to hear the performances in the beautiful setting of Tetbury Parish Church, BBC Radio 3 recorded three of the concerts for transmission, one more than last year, for broadcast in Performance on 3.

Friday's concert with the King's Consort, including the world premiere of the specially commissioned piece by Michael Berkeley, will be broadcast at 7.30pm on Tuesday 11th October 2005.

The Schubert Ensemble's concert will be broadcast at 7.30pm on Wednesday 12th October, and the all Bach concert with Mark Padmore and friends will be on Thursday 13th October at the same time. This was a very special performance, and the broadcast has been extended to include the additional aria not on the programme

The dates for 2006 are Friday 6th October to Sunday 8th October. The draft programme for 2006 will appear on this website as soon as it is available, through the Programme link, and will be updated as we have more details. The programmes and notes from the 2003 and 2004 Festivals can be reached through the 2003 and 2004 links on the sidebar.
